Afroman

Humorous storytelling, laid-back hip-hop and cult-favorite songs come to ZeyZey’s outdoor Zaku Stage with a performance by Afroman.

Appearing Sunday, November 1, the rapper and multi-instrumentalist is best known for his 2001 breakout hit “Because I Got High,” which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance.

Afroman began recording and selling homemade tapes while still in school, later developing his skills on drums and guitar before releasing his debut album, My Fro-losophy , in 1998. The success of “Because I Got High” led to a major-label deal and the release of The Good Times , along with performances alongside artists including Cypress Hill, Deftones and Method Man.

Since the mid-2000s, Afroman has largely released music independently, maintaining a direct connection with listeners through online platforms and touring.
